Surviving the Pain of Month End, From the Perspective of an Accountant and Financial Analyst
The objective……to close the books
The goal…….to be on-time.
Given the challenge, how do we achieve this when your Oracle EBS or Oracle Cloud system lacks in reporting? At business school, the thought of having an 8 to 5 job was something to dream of. A career in public, corporate, financial accounting was the discussion at university, however, no one was prepared for Oracle’s challenges. This challenge goes across the globe and is affecting how month-end processes are run at all enterprises. Financial reporting is a huge issue, and most are struggling with wasted time exporting and formatting. Or worse, printing reports and keying numbers into templates. IT departments are “hunting down” a better way to close the books and finish reporting for the business. In many cases, the business will take matters into their own hands to fix month-end even if it takes extended hours, which is the cause of the problem because the objective is to close the books and the goal is to be on-time. How do we fix it?
